Shoulder Dislocation Treatment In PCMC
Shoulder dislocation treatment occurs when the upper arm bone (humerus) pops out of the socket of the shoulder blade (glenoid). This injury can be painful and limit mobility.
There are two main types of shoulder dislocation:
- Anterior Dislocation: This is the most common type, where the humerus is forced forward out of the shoulder socket.
- Posterior Dislocation: Less common, this occurs when the humerus is pushed backward out of the socket.
Several factors can cause a shoulder dislocation, including:
- Trauma: Often resulting from falls, accidents, or sports injuries where the arm is extended forcefully.
- Repetitive Strain: Activities that involve repetitive overhead motion, such as swimming, tennis, or pitching, can weaken the shoulder joint and increase the risk of dislocation.
- Structural Issues: Certain anatomical variations or conditions like loose ligaments can predispose individuals to shoulder instability and dislocation.
In short, shoulder dislocation is the displacement of the upper arm bone from its socket in the shoulder blade. It can be either anterior or posterior and is commonly caused by trauma, repetitive strain, or underlying structural issues.
