Rotator Cuff Injury
The Rotator Cuff Injury is a group of muscles and tendons in the shoulder that play a crucial role in stabilizing and moving the joint. Comprising four muscles – the supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor, and subscapularis – the rotator cuff works together to facilitate shoulder movement and maintain its integrity.
These muscles enable a wide range of shoulder motions, including lifting, rotating, and reaching. They also contribute to keeping the shoulder joint centered within its socket, enhancing its stability and preventing dislocation.
Injuries to the rotator cuff are common and can result from overuse, trauma, or degeneration over time. Symptoms may include pain, weakness, and limited range of motion in the shoulder. Treatment options range from rest, physical therapy, and anti-inflammatory medications to more invasive interventions such as corticosteroid injections or surgery in severe cases.
Maintaining shoulder strength and flexibility through targeted exercises and proper lifting techniques can help prevent rotator cuff injuries and promote overall shoulder health.
